PARTICIPATION IN THE EIASM INTERNATIONAL DOCTORAL SEMINAR ON GENERATING IMPACTFUL RESEARCH IDEAS FOR YOUNG SCHOLARS

Finding impactful and creative research ideas is a challenge that I have tried to overcome from the beginning of my research career. The tools and techniques presented at the workshop organized by EIASM – European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management and Academic Creativity Labs helped me significantly in my search for ways to pose appropriate research questions for my doctoral thesis.

A brief description of the purpose of the meeting

Each of the 25 participants was trying to (as part of the seminars, training part and individual consultations) develop five detailed research concepts that will fit into the research area of ​​the dissertation. In addition, the seminars were aimed at learning and practicing the sequence of activities carried out in the process of selecting ideas for scientific research and the methods of developing research concepts on their basis for their subsequent implementation as part of the doctoral dissertation.

Framework program:

Until 26/10 – own work and preliminary consultations with the lecturers.
Then: a series of seminars, each time: 9:00 – 17:00 group workshops, exercises in teams of 3 with teachers and individual progress assessment.

Topics of individual meetings:

26/10 – Introduction and ways of searching for research ideas, ways of analyzing current trends, locating attractive research areas.
04/11 – Creating and selecting research ideas, identifying and characterizing the needs of “recipients of research results”.
12/11 – Setting priorities in planned research and techniques for formulating research concepts
18/11 – Tools helpful in working on developing and refining the concept of scientific research
25/11 – Ways of an attractive and concise presentation of research concepts, sources of research funding + summary
